Dana Schindelka is a Calgary based painter and visual artist who uses mixed media to explore the relationship between colour, space, texture and recollection. Dana uses paint, collage and various components to create his artworks. His influences include music, fiction, short stories, poetry, nature, Inuit art, Haida art, Naïve art, art brut, graffiti, folk art, and modern art.

After living in Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, British Columbia and Nova Scotia he moved to Calgary in 2002.

Dana is a lawyer at an international law firm who specializes in the area of litigation. He received his Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie Law School, his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Regina, and his Grade 12 Diploma from the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame. He is widely respected as a talented lawyer, and he has received numerous awards and recognitions for his legal acumen and his contributions to the community.

Prior to going to University, Dana played junior hockey, was a bronze gloves boxer, and took piano and voice training. He collects buddhas, gargoyles, worry stones, books and music. His best moments are spent with his one year old son, three year old daughter and his wife.

Dana’s paintings are found in private and business collections throughout Western Canada.
