Erin Freed grew up in Manitoba and is a trained X-ray technologist.  She moved to Calgary after she got married.  In 1998 she began attending the Alberta University of the Arts on a part-time basis, graduating in 2006 with a BFA in ceramics.  She is currently the president of the Alberta Potters Association, and she is on the board of Artpoint Gallery in Inglewood.  Since retirement she has been making pots on a regular basis.  She loves to make bowls and casserole dishes. For glazes she uses Cone 3 on her pots finishing them with a bubble glaze. She also experiments with an amber glaze with a touch of red and adding some carvings as well as under glazing.  She uses iron bearing clay and fire at cone 5.”
