Michael Shimbashi (Swedged Ceramics) works in his Calgary, Alberta home based
Michael’s earliest memory is watching his mother creating Ceramics in their Northern Alberta Home and seeing this odd little brick building. (Gas Reduction Kiln). His journey into the World of Ceramics started and continues at the North Mount Pleasant Art Center in Calgary, Alberta.
A workshop with Akira Satake (N. Carolina) and Ken Matsuzaki (Mashiko) has influenced the direction of his ceramics. Michael works with Cone 10 Clay Bodies and Glazes, Reduction fired in a gas kiln.
For me, transforming a “Ball of Clay” into a Ceramic piece is a source of peace andMichael Shimbashi
tranquility. Always hoping, someone will find my Ceramics useful and visually appealing.
