As a child, I was holding and carrying colouring books, crayons and papers everywhere. It was my passion. My love and attraction for colours and creativity only grew. In my native city, Québec, I took art classes and pursued my passion through College, by studying art and obtaining a Graphic Art Degree from Laval University. Soon after I moved to Calgary where new challenges were awaiting.
While raising a family I kept my desire to draw alive by joining a group of figure drawing artists, enrolled in watercolour classes, and participated in drawing classes at the zoo. I rediscovered and adopted acrylic as my medium of choice after taking classes with Jean Pederson at ACAD (2009). I further explored acrylic by joining Mary-Leigh Doyle’s art class in 2010 for several years. I went to Cape Breton to participate in the CSPWC Symposium and also took many workshops from Leading Edge in Calgary.
The subjects of my paintings are diversified and represent the natural world, animals and sometimes everyday objects or scenes painted in my own interpretative and whimsical semiabstract way. My work reflects happiness, joy and wonderment through design, shapes and colours.
I regularly exhibit my work with the Calgary Community Painters Society, the Parkdale Art Club, the Southern Alberta Art Alliance and more recently with the Freeplay Group. I have participated in many group shows at the Hillhurst and Sunnyside Community Association from 2009 till 2015. I also had two solo exhibitions at Framed on Fifth, a duo show at the Common Crown Brewery and at the Calgary Jubilee Auditorium, in 2018. I was at The Art on Ninth Gallery in 2018 and in their Pop Up Edition November 2020.
I had some of my work on display at the Giant Bicycles Cafe in Edmonton, at Euphoria Cafe in Calgary and at the Calgary Fitness Table. I have exhibited in Edmonton at the Galerie CAVA in November 2017 and February 2020.
In 2019, while participating in the Banff Art Centre’s Artist in Residence program, I codeveloped a project for a travelling show. It will launch next spring in Edmonton, at the Galerie
Cava with artist Virginie Rainville.
