I hope my art sparks a feeling of joy, movement, freedom and whimsy; in a unique way. I paint with mostly acrylics on canvas, and I love incorporating depth and interest with: paper, home made stencils, acrylic skins, pastels, oils, and anything that seems interesting.
I am currently exploring contrasts: bold colour with neutrals, undefined shapes with defined, hard with soft lines, representational with abstract, busy spaces with visual resting spaces. All that equals layers and depth!
I’m partial to Alberta’s wildflowers; I love their resilience and beauty. How are they able to grow and be brilliant on the dry, windy Alberta prairies, or on the side of a busy highway? They are amazing, their resilience reminds me of what humans are capable of. I’m interested in capturing their wild beauty.
