Elaine and Andy Alfoldy are inspired by the Kootenay surroundings which can be seen on their lovely watercolours on tissue and on traditional watercolour papers, acrylics and collages on canvas.
“When I paint, I am capturing a mood, atmosphere and a special memory. I enjoy connecting with people through my paintings and enjoy hearing how my work can stir their emotions. That is such a reward for me when that happens. Bringing someone to a special place through my art is a bonus and sharing the beauty of our natural world.”
"It is the colours and fragrance that make me feel alive and I thank my Creator for this beautiful gift."
“I work primarily with acrylics, alcohol ink and mixed media. I love to make large spontaneous marks when I begin most paintings. These loose marks suggest routes that I can take with the work. Since I am a tactile learner it is important for me to add layers of texture to my work, allowing me to feel my way through the piece. This assists me in achieving a sense of depth. I love variety; it is a must in my art practice!
If I can add a little colour, inspiration, and feeling to the world, that makes me happy.
Lizanne's interest is in the human body and all of humanity. Her intuitive work is based on the dream world, lucid thoughts and the 'other side'- an inquiry into the supernatural, spiritual world.
